Black History Month is a celebration of achievements by African Americans in U.S. history. In September of 1915, an American Historian and pioneer of African American studies named Carter G. Woodson, founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History (ASNLH). ASNLH is an organization that is dedicated to researching and promoting achievements by African Americans. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month.

The Brotherhood/Sister Sol
Founded in 1995, The Brotherhood/Sister Sol (Bro/Sis) provides school care, school and home counseling, summer camps, job training and employment, college preparation, community organizing training, and international study programs to Africa and Latin America that serves young people from economically poor communities.

Black Girls CODE
Black Girls CODE help introduces computer coding lessons to young girls from underrepresented communities in programming languages such as Scratch or Ruby on Rails.
